Every now and then I read words that are so deep and rich that they fill my heart; words I can taste and feel on my tongue, words that pour life into forgotten places. I like to dwell on them, chew on them, and put them back on the page in a way that delights in their truth and weight. Sometimes I write my own words, too. I hope the things you see and read here bring light and depth, and perhaps life to what was once stone.

    Dearest Melody,
I am so proud of you, writing about your Advent pilgrimage. The choice of words brings tears to my eyes, but then again- as an older man – tears come more easily. As they did yesterday when we went to see the movie ‘Philomena’. Don’t miss it.
May Christmas 2013 be a deep and thoroughly meaningful experience for us all.
So much love, from your happy grandfather
